I love getting together with my sisters. We are guaranteed a good catch-up and a laugh when we meet.  Our regular meet-ups include friends and other relatives too, so the venue must accommodate our various needs. Recently we have been frequenting The Jingling Gate in Westerhope. There are a few reasons why it appeals to us and as you read on I hope some of these resonate with you.

About The Jingling Gate at Westerhope

The Jingling Gate is part of the Greene King pub chain. Known for its value for money, it didn’t disappoint. The pub has been there for as long as I can remember.  I used to visit when I was much younger even before I had my kids. So it’s got a long and interesting past. Historic records state that the pub showed up on the map in 1847. Although it may well have been built before that date. The old building is hidden by a Tudor-type facade and parts have been added and changed, but underneath it all, it is still there!

Where The Jingling Gate Is Located

Nestled in the suburb of Westerhope, The Jingling Gate isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a part of the local community’s fabric. Its charm lies in its slightly off-the-beaten-path location, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. The cosy ambience of the venue, coupled with its historical roots, adds to the allure, making it a perfect spot for family gatherings and relaxed dining.

The Menus

One aspect that consistently draws us back is the diversity of the menus. Whether you’re in the mood for traditional British cuisine or something a bit more contemporary, The Jingling Gate caters to all tastes. The ingredients are locally sourced, adding freshness and quality to every dish. It’s the kind of place where every member of the family, regardless of their dietary preferences, finds something to relish.

Pricing

Value for money is key at The Jingling Gate. The pricing is what I would describe as ‘pleasantly affordable,’ ensuring that dining out here doesn’t have to be a rare treat. This is particularly evident in their senior menu, which offers a range of delicious choices at reduced prices. This thoughtful inclusion means that over 60’s can enjoy their favourite dishes without concern for cost, which is something we all appreciate.

The Service

When we first started to visit, we ordered our meals at the bar.  However, they have recently introduced table service. A welcome addition. The table service, is a rarity for value-for-money pubs these days, adding a touch of elegance and personal care to our dining experience. The staff are efficient, friendly and extremely helpful.

Visit The Jingling Gate

The Jingling Gate, with its idyllic location, diverse menus, reasonable pricing, and excellent service, is more than just a dining spot for us – it’s a place where memories are made. As a local, I see it as a jewel in Westerhope’s crown, a venue that warmly welcomes every guest, making them feel right at home. If you’re ever in Newcastle upon Tyne, a visit to The Jingling Gate is a must for an authentic, enjoyable dining experience.
